First Impressions Part 1 (Mzuzu)

We have been in Malawi for a week now – two days in Lilongwe, 6 days in Mzuzu settling into our new home, and a weekend excursion to Nkhata Bay.  Life is very different yet incredibly interesting here, from the minibuses or shared taxi’s, to the market places, to the cultural and social norms, with the occasional and often unexpected dash of home thrown into the mix.

Mzuzu is a friendly and comfortable city to live in, with various locals who knew the Canadian team from last year coming up to us an introducing themselves whenever we are in town.  We have met a few friends of the previous teams that have been very kind and generous in showing us around town and helping us set up our houses.  We are also quickly becoming known as “The Replacements” or “The New Canadians.”
